About Dennis C. Hogan

Dennis C. Hogan comes from a family with deep roots in New
Hampshire.  His ancestors are first mentioned in the Nashua History,
Nashua Experience when they are killed by indians in what is now
Massachusetts.  His mother's family farmed Southern New
Hampshire in what is now Hudson, Nashua, Amherst, and Hollis from
the seventeenth century to today.  His mother grew up on her
parent's dairy farm on Witches Spring Road in Hollis.  His father's
family immigrated to the Merrimack River Valley from French
Candia and Ireland to work in the industrial mills.  His grandfather
worked in the foundry still on Quincy Street in Nashua as a young
man and in later life Represented Nashua's Ward 4 in the New
Hampshire legislature.  Dennis' father is James F. Hogan, 25 year
Nashua City Engineer, administered the federal funding of the
Nashua sewer system and city regulations on building during the
boom years of the 70's, 80's, and 90's,  Dennis is the seventh of
eleven children (three girls and eight boys).
Dennis' first activity to make money came before he ever went to
school.  He put the fruit from his parent's pear tree in a tin Batman
lunch box and knocked on neighbor's doors to sell the produce for
nickels.  From fourth grade (age ten) to ninth grade Dennis
delivered the Nashua Telegraph in the afternoon to 32 homes in his
neighborhood.   Every customer received their paper during the
great blizzard of 1978.  During high school Dennis worked at Dairy
Queen, Finest Supermarket (presently location Demoulas at exit 7),
and Stewart's Department Store (present location of Demoulas on
DW Highway).  During college he worked at Stewart's, Alexander's
Supermarket (where Home Depot is today) and the lab a Nesmith
Hall on the University of NH campus.  Upon graduating he sold (too
little) life insurance for Northwestern Mutual Life.  After deciding
that was not the right path for him he worked as a substitute teacher
and seasonal retail store jobs taking the inventory for Stewart's and
Macy's.  Starting in 1987, Dennis worked for twelve years at Allstate
Insurance Company claims before returning to school to become a
lawyer.  He first worked as an attorney with Jordan, Maynard &
Parodi, PC until 2004 and started his own firm in 2005.
Hillsborough County elected him as County Attorney in 2010 with
53% of the vote in a three way race.

Ward 2 in Nashua elected Dennis as Delegate to N.H.'s 17th and
last Constitutional Convention in 1984.  He also represented Ward 2
in the N.H. Legislature after the 1984 election.  In both votes
Dennis was the candidate who received the most votes.  The entire
city of Nashua elected Dennis to the Board of Education in 2005
with more votes than anyone on the ballot that day.

Dennis started formal education in September of 1970 at St.
Christopher's Elementary which he attended from first to sixth grade.
For Junior High (seven, eight and nine) Dennis attended Nashua
Catholic Regional Junior High School behind St. Louis on West
Hollis Street (presently a rehab facility).  Dennis played on the
basketball and baseball teams and ran track.  Dennis graduated
from Nashua High School (presently South) in 1982.  He
participated in gymnastics club and on the Debate team he and his
partner won the Novice Division State Championship. He attended
Keene State College for one year before transferring to University of
New Hampshire in Durham and received a B.A. in Political
Science in 1986.  Dennis received a JD (law degree) and LLM from
UNH Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) in 2002.

The Hillsborough County Attorney's Office budget was reduced 6%
by the Hillsborough County Delegation making morale
improvement difficult.  However, Dennis has been able to attracted
a better work force and thus make up for the reduction in staff
necessitated by the reduction in resources.
